Qutab Minar
The foundations of this 238-foot-high tower were laid by Qutabuddin Aibak in AD 1200. Iltutmish, his successor, added three more storeys. After the minar was damaged by lightning in 1368, Feroze Shah Tughlaq rebuilt the fourth storey and added a fifth storey and cupola. Don’t miss the impressive Alai Darwaza and the Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque, with its unmistakeably Hindu carvings.
Mehrauli, Delhi-Gurgaon Road. Open daily, sunrise to sunset. Admission: Indians Rs 10, foreigners Rs 250.
